Who We Are

K&A was established in 1974 by our founder, John B. Koogler III, Ph.D., P.E., to provide exceptional air-related environmental engineering consulting and testing services primarily to industrial clients in the Southeastern United States. Dr. Koogler established a team of highly trained environmental engineers and technicians to provide the best regulatory compliance solutions for clients.

As a small business, K&A offers the flexibility to quickly resolve client issues avoiding layers of management and capitalizing on the cross-training and "outside-the-box" capabilities we nuture with our employees. When a facility has immediate needs for regulatory compliance guidance, our engineering team is an email/text/phone call away to offer help and build a bridge between our client and regulatory agencies. We develop new paths to compliance by staying in tight communication with our clients and truly understanding their environmental compliance demands.

Our air emissions measurements team has broad range of experience with EPA, ASTM, NCAASI and many other methodologies. Our emissions measurements and engineering teams work closely together to develop a depth of understanding and related regulatory implications that truly provide quality and defensibility that is rarely still seen in today's consulting industry. This close relationship has made our small company savvy and durable for over 50 years of service to the environmental services industry. We know the meaning of "reasonable assurance."

Our design team creates and builds innovative hardware including mobile air emissions monitoring laboratories, Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) systems, portable testing equipment, client-specific databases, and ambient air monitoring systems all within the context of regulatory compliance for our clients.

We recognize SAFETY is key to our continued success at K&A. Providing an award-winning safety culture for our employees and our clients is a core value of the company. We consistently maintain excellent health, safety, and environment (HSE) ratings with OSHA, MSHA, ISNetworld and Avetta through continual training and improvement analyses. Our employees are empowered to put safety first at all times so our clients can trust our employees not to be a hazard at their facilities.
